Energy transition in Germany – a success story. At around 6 per cent in the year 2000, the proportion of renewable energy used in electricity consumption had grown to more than 42 per cent in 2019. Germany is playing a key role in the expanding production of renewable energy and in transmitting it. Since autumn 2010 the industry network Renewable Energy Hamburg has been offering interested stakeholders the ideal platform for networking and information as the central regional industry network. The core elements of cluster activities have been in offshore and onshore wind energy, together with solar energy, renewable heat, sector coupling and storage.
